This is a beautiful traditional Australian Folksong which tells the story of banishment of the singer from their native Erin. The tune probably has Irish origins. This quartet version has been arranged for strings in the key of D-major. I've arranged it for Clarinet Quartet, Flute quartet and used this tune in my Australian Folksong Medley No. 3 for Concert Band. This traditional tune was also featured in the film "The Man From Snowy River". Let me know how is goes with your String Quartet or group!
